It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Football and soccer are back with new seasons ladies and gentlemen. And, we're back too. I don’t know about you but I fully welcome the distraction of sports amongst the current apocalyptic hellscape of forest fires, Covid, and dumpster fires in the White House that we are all forced to live in. Some thoughts I have about the seasons ahead: First and foremost, Liverpool will be looking to defend their Premier League title and do better this go around in the Champions League. City has done very little to strengthen in the areas where they are lacking, namely defense. Fortunately for the world, they missed out on signing Messi because he’s as inept at navigating the Spanish legal system as he is good at nutmegging defenders. The biggest challenge this season I think will be Chelsea. They are certainly looking to challenge after picking up striker Timo Werner, midfielder Kai Havertz, and defender Ben Chilwell. Superbowl LIV (14-4) Kansas City Chiefs vs. (15-3) San Francisco 49ers – Sunday, February 2 nd , 6:40pm The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs enter Superbowl 54 with polar opposite franchise histories. The Chiefs began their existence as one of the premier franchises of the American Football League and represented the league in Superbowl I (a 35-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers) before breaking through and defeating the Minnesota Vikings in Superbowl IV 23-7. But in the nearly 50 years since that win, it has been an era of disappointment as they have had 26 winning seasons and 17 playoff appearances but 0 Superbowl appearances. The 49ers on the other hand, spent their first three decades in the NFL as a laughing stock as they won just 46% of their games and made 4 playoff appearances.
